Terms of Use

Last updated: March 2026

By accessing or using epictetus.world ("the platform", "the service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

The service

Epictetus.world provides an AI-powered Stoic philosophy platform, including a conversational AI based on the teachings of Epictetus, a maxim distillation tool, and a curated library of Stoic resources.

The AI responses are generated by a language model and are for educational and philosophical purposes only. They do not constitute professional advice of any kind — medical, psychological, legal, financial, or otherwise.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the platform only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these terms. You must not:

Intellectual property

The platform's design, branding, code, and original content are the property of epictetus.world. The philosophical texts referenced in the library are in the public domain. AI-generated responses are provided for your personal use and may not be republished or commercialised without permission.

AI-generated content

The AI on this platform is designed to respond in the voice and philosophy of Epictetus. It is an AI, not the historical person. Responses should be understood as AI-generated philosophical content, not statements attributable to the historical Epictetus or to any human author.

We make no guarantee that AI responses are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use your own judgment.

Pricing and payments

The platform currently operates in early access. Paid plans are listed as indicative pricing and are not yet active. No payment will be processed without explicit confirmation from you. When payment functionality is introduced, additional terms will apply.

Disclaimer of warranties

The platform is provided "as is" without any warranty, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Use at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, epictetus.world shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the platform.

Changes to the service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time. We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts.
